After Bali: The Show Goes On

A (spurious ?) compromise has been reached at the Bali Climate Conference at the eleventh hour when the US delegation finally came around, after having been under heavy fire by the other delegates. A scene which reminds me of that one which was enacted by Nikita Khrushchew who whipped off his shoe and thumped the table with it due to hard UN criticism. And it was this hard criticism which made the US delegates to the Bali Conference react as they did. They scared of being looked upon as the bad boys before the eyes of the world. This last minute decision caused other countries to share in, thus creating the longed-for domino effect. Moreover, there are certain justified expectations that modern western technologies are going to be made available to the emerging countries to make up their shortcomings in this area.

After all, the train to Greek calends which I referred to in my previous post seems to have slowed down its speed. Now let's wait and see if the mountain labored and brought forth a mouse or if all the Bali reactions mount up to what may be considered as the climate change detractors' rise from the ashes like Phenix.

Saludos PATO
