Strengthening the use of nuclear energy vs. maintaining the moratorium

Questioning Nuclear Power Plant Safety

One the one hand, France and England are strengthening the use of their nuclear power technology, while Germany is, to put it this way, losing valuable technological ground due to its moratorium policy. As a matter of fact, Germany is surrounded by nuclear power plants whose technology and degree of safety vary from one country to another. Therefore, bluntly speaking, nuclear power plant safety considerations are absurd to a certain degree depending on the still existing obsolete Chernobyl-type and other plants lacking in safety. Furthermore, it has to be queried into where the socalled eco-balance method is considered that important outside Germany as it is at home. For example, France does not only support nuclear power within its own borders but it also aims at installing this type of power production facilites in wide parts of North Africa. As a consequence, the nuclear power plant belt will then range from this area passing through the Middle East and reaching as far as China. The question of how and where to store radioactive waste will then hardly be of importance. Final radioactive waste disposal at stake?
On the other hand, a simple footnote may throw some light on the usable uranium availability ahead of us. According to present-day knowledge, the time this material will probably be available wont't be much longer than that of the oil deposits known so far. Political stability in many a country where nuclear power technology is planned to be installed is and will be quite another question.

Summing up: Will there be a fight against windmills as did the famous Don Quichotte?
